Job description

Vocational school: | Georg Kerschensteiner Vocational College |
In the turning technology field, machinists use conventional or computer-controlled turning lathes in individual and series production to machine workpieces employed in mechanical and plant engineering. With the aid of state-of-the-art machining centres, they convert workpieces into their required shape by planning the necessary production sequences, selecting technically and economically sensible tools and creating the necessary programmes for computer-controlled machines. They monitor the production process and ensure that the workpieces have the required quality.
Trainees spend the first four months in and out of the training workshop, guided by training supervisors. They are then transitioned to the production area, where training mentors come alongside them as well.
Machinist is a recognised training occupation according to the Vocational Training Act (Berufsbildungsgesetz, BBiG).
